ABOUT

BIOGRAPHY

David Hewson is an English composer, pianist and sound-designer.

His music, often an interplay between acoustic and electro-acoustic sounds and combining a variety of influences spanning neo-classicism, minimalism, neo-folk and post-rock bands has been heard in venues across the UK including The Barbican, Wilton’s Music Hall, Tobacco Factory theatre, Bunker theatre, Greenwich theatre and BYMT.

David was born on the Isle of Wight. He began playing piano and clarinet from an early age, making and releasing records from his garage with a sound inspired as much by Radiohead and David Byrne as by Ravel and Satie. He trained as an actor-musician at Rose Bruford college.

David co-runs award winning actor-musician theatre company DumbWise, making pieces of music theatre that use original music, songs and live musicianship as an integral and integrated part of storytelling.

He also writes and release songs under his solo project, Man at Sea.

David's new album 'Free Fall' is a collection  short minimalist pieces for piano which  reflect on the tumultuous times recently lived through.

The Stage, 5* review for MACBETH, Stafford Shakespeare Festival
